In April 1988, a grant of $1000 was awarded by the Catholic Diocese of Raleigh, North Carolina to print 1000 copies of Poverty in the East, a research report by members of ENCPC.

In 1989, a $1000 grant from the Episcopal Diocese of East Carolina helped ENCPC distribute another 1000 copies of Poverty in the East.

In November, 1990 a grant for $50,000 was awarded by the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation to help research started by ENCPC.

In September 1993 ENCPC held a regional conference "Economic Development for Women and Minorities in Eastern North Carolina."
