The Jobs for the Future Collaborative of the Center for Community Action in Lumberton, N.C. invites you to attend a two-day, National Conference on Rural Job Loss and Recovery in Rural America on October 1-2, 2004 in order to:
Share and learn practical ways to recover and reconstruct our rural economies that have been devastated by massive job loss through workshops and presentations on effective and successful development projects, strategies, and opportunities.

Identify and discuss the challenges facing our rural communities and the policy changes, recommendations, and research that we need on the national, state, and local level in order to assist in the reconstruction and transformation of our rural economies

Expand the dialog and network between individuals and organizations who are working across rural America in the areas of practice and policy in order to generate a stronger voice and support for our rural communities and issues.

Build a closer working relationship between individuals and organizations working on the “Rural Triad” issues of economic development, education reform, and health care reform from the perspectives of both practice and policy.

Dialog and determine “Next Steps” that are needed to build a more organized, broad-based effort and plan for uniting practice and policy interests and resources across rural America.
